Today the Netherlands Public Prosecution Service (OM) has announced that it will prosecute 4 suspects who are deemed responsible for the crash of flight MH17. The case has been brought before the District Court of The Hague. The Court will now take the necessary steps to hear the case. The Court has appointed Hendrik Steenhuis as presiding judge for this. Other judges to hear the case will be anounced shortly. The first court session will take place on March 9th, 2020.

The case will be held at the Schiphol Judicial Complex (JCS) in Badhoevedorp. The Palace of Justice in The Hague cannot accommodate such a large case.

No substantive information
The Court cannot comment further on the substantive course of the MH17 trial. Moreover, additional questions regarding the judges hearing the case, the location, the facilities for the relatives, interested parties and media cannot be answered at this time.
