To enable the prosecution and trial in the Netherlands, the Netherlands and Ukraine concluded an agreement on international legal cooperation on 7 July 2017.
The main elements covered by the agreement are:
- Dutch jurisdiction and the transfer of criminal proceedings
- the extradition of suspects
- conducting the trial using video conferencing technology (to enable the defendant(s) to participate in the criminal proceedings from outside the Netherlands)
- transfer of enforcement of prison sentences
